To Build a Home
Joseph Hillier
Hill Road Car Park
The artist, Joseph Hillier was inspired by the varied architecture of the town and the visual impact of locally produced bricks arranged in patterns of blue and red.
All of his sculptures are made from clay which, like the houses, come from the land beneath our feet.
Joseph says:
“The sculpture – To Build a Home – responds to the architecture of Watlington but also a more organic approach with concentric rings radiating out from different points. Almost like a Venn diagram they intersect. What I’m trying to reflect is the complexity in the way people live together in a town like Watlington.”
